Okay, I know it sounds kinda wrong—but hear me out.

Pickles are everywhere lately. Pickle flavored chips, salsa, and even saw some weird pickle dip at Costco. I was at the NC State fair last October, and it even had a pickle doughnut! I did get it...dill and donuts DO NOT GO TOGETHER!

So I figured… why not try 'em on a pizza? I did buy the pickle salsa from Costco, it was alright, I would not seek it out again.

Thinking something like this for Friday pizza night:
Pickle Pizza Recipe Idea
• Base: Thin layer of garlic cream sauce (think almost a taziki type sauce, dill, garlic)
 • Cheese: Shredded mozz (light on the spread here)
 • Pickles: Dill slices (dry 'em first so it's not a soggy mess, maybe the really thin ones like McDonald's pickles)
 • Toppings: Maybe a few red onions or bacon crumbles
 • After bake: Drizzle with ranch or hot honey (still torn)

Home-made ranch makes the most sense in my opinion....but I'm open to any feedback some of you more experienced folks might have!

You're definitely not alone, pickle everything is hitting like a weird green wave lately. I've seen pickle beer, pickle freeze pops… it's getting out of hand but pickle pizza? believe it or not, I've tried it, with a group of friends at that, white sauce base, dill pickles, mozzarella, and a little garlic and dill, surprisingly not terrible.

That said, pickle doughnut? , okay I thibk that's crossing a line now haha

Haha, I've totally noticed the pickle obsession too. I can definitely get on board with pickle pizza sounds kind of adventurous right? But a pickle doughnut? No way not for me. That's a pass I can confidently make

I feel the same way, I'm game for pretty much anything on a pizza, even pickles. But a pickle donut? No thanks, I'll pass on that. I did have a maple bacon donut once, and it was surprisingly tasty, but pickles in a donut? That's just too much for me

OOOH. I haven't tried it but dang that's sooo nice. Thanks so much for sharing. Hahaha I'm still cackling about the pickle donuts. Disgusting. DISGUSTING. I'mma try this pickle pizza recipe in the weekend thanks.

Pickle pizza? Nah i dont think its gonna work for me lol. Interesting recipe though, it MAY be good combined with some meat

Tried a cheeseburger pizza once with dill chips on top, surprisingly solid. So maybe if you throw in some bacon or sausage, that pickle combo could hit

@ChefDad believe it or not, my mom made this couple of times. to make a good one, pickle prep is KEY. you're right to dry the dill slices! This is important to avoid a watery, soggy mess.
Even patting them really dry with paper towels might not be enough. you can even suggest lightly pressing them between paper towels under a weight for a bit to squeeze out extra liquid.
McDonald's style thin slices are also a great call for even distribution and less bulk

I returned to this forum looking for something new, and I'm glad I saw your post!
Anyone else here who tried the same recipe?
This seems to be a fun idea and I like your tip about drying the pickles!
I think I'd lean towards the ranch drizzle over the hot honey.
I imagine the creamy, cool ranch would complement the salty, tangy pickles and the richness of the cheese.

Ranch drizzle seems like the perfect choice, it really balances out the tanginess and keeps things nice and smooth. And drying the pickles? That was a clever decision as well.
