I'm all for the wood‑fired taste, i looove it but sometimes the smoke flavor overwhelms the toppings. I’m burning oak logs. Should I switch woods, or just manage the fire differently? Appreciate any help or suggestions!

Honestly, oak is great. it burns hot and clean, so I guess the issue is usually fire management, not the wood. Try letting the fire burn down to clean coals before launching. Less active smoke = happier toppings.

yep, try to manage the fire differently to make sure a clean burn and, if it's still like that, switch to a milder wood like apple or cherry
oak is a popular, balanced option, but your specific wood's quality and your fire management are the key
