Has anyone tried putting dough balls in the air fryer?

I'm using leftover same-day dough from tonight's pizza session and thinking of running small dough balls through the air fryer after brushing them with olive oil. Has anyone done this instead of traditional deep frying and did they puff or stay dense?

Tried it a few times for quick snacks. They puff a little but not like deep-fried ones. I usually let the dough warm up and rise again for 20–30 minutes before air frying.

I've been planning to do this too!
I think it will be good since the air fryer mimics the rapid, intense dry heat of a wood oven on a small scale, which is perfect for a quick spring.
Brushing with olive oil would also definitely help the surface crisp and brown quickly!
I've read it's recommended to use a high heat setting, around 375-400F and to cook them in a single layer so the hot air can circulate.
Let us know what you discover!
